SGA Election Rule Violation Complaint

The Election Board recently received an election complaint against the Hussain/Saxena campaign which alleged violations of the following rules:

While investigating this complaint, we found corroborating evidence supporting the breach of Rule 1:

"If a candidate or supporter is aware that a student is waiting to or in the act of voting, the candidate or supporter may not approach within 10 feet of the voter to provide information, solicit votes, or attempt to view the voter’s selections."

In addition, an election board member witnessed a violation of this rule, and we also were made aware of a video supporting this claim.

In response, the Election Board has decided to move forward with the following sanction:

A suspension of campaigning, both active and passive, for the remainder of the voting period, which ends on 4/14, at 7 pm.

Thank you.
