Committee Representatives

The UMBC SGA has always relied on the input and collaboration of the student body, in order to support co-curricular and academic experiences, identify and give a voice to students’ hopes and concerns and engage students in campus activities and decisions.

This year, there are more opportunities than ever for students to get involved with our work. With 7 specific departments which focus on different issues, we plan to help you cultivate experiences that allow you to excel in your academic fields, and explore your passions through practical projects and initiatives.

Committee members can be expected to attend one meeting a week, where they will work on projects and initiatives with the rest of their departments to improve our campus community!

There are many benefits to being an SGA departmental committee member! You may apply to receive a PRACC “community service” notation on your transcript, documenting your service to the UMBC community. Additionally, you will have many opportunities for personal and professional growth, such as as networking with faculty, staff, administration and peers! If you choose to take on a project and/or an initiative, you will have the chance to add the final results to your CV and/or portfolio. Lastly, the experiences you gain will help you in your future endeavors at our SGA, UMBC, and future careers!
