Candidate Responses:
1. During my three years as a student, I gained experience both on and off campus. On campus, I have served as Vice President of our award-winning Model United Nations club. This position was very important for me, exposing me to many of the inside workings of SGA and its interactions with Student Orgs. I also have been active on campus attending SGA and Student-Org sponsored events, like the Vice Presidential debates. My collaboration with the Promotion and Tenure Board of the Political Science Department provided me with chances to interact with the student body and work to represent their opinions on the Board. Taking advantage of the Shriver Center, I also served as an Intern with the Mayor's Office of Citistat in Baltimore City, an office dedicated to government efficiency. I am a dedicated and capable student, who will use my abilities to best represent the student body.
2. I have a very simple platform: to serve as a conduit for student opinion to the SGA. I have no personal goals for my time on the board except to ensure that any student is able to have their voice heard. To me, I believe the student body is currently looking to the SGA to continue its policy of strong support of campus life and student organizations, something that I strongly favor. I also believe the student body expects a higher level of excellence of its SGA, and I will serve to make sure that all SGA members do more then just serve their time out.
3.
I am a serious student who loves my school. I have never had interest in running for any SGA position before, but after being disappointing by SGA from time to time I have decided I can not complain about what I do not work to change. Every student should know that if they elect me they will have a serious voice ready to make sure their problems are heard.
Brief Platform Statement:
- Bring students' opinions back into prominence.
- Ensure all members maintain the levels of excellence and responsibility expected of them.
- Continue SGA's support of Student Orgs and campus life.
