Candidate Responses: 2. One of the glaring inadequacies at UMBC is the school's drug policy. As it stands a student can face draconian sanctions even if he or she has done nothing illegal. Often times the effects can be devastating to students that are the victim of a judicial system which assumes guilt before innocence. As Senator I will work hard to change this injustice and see that the judicial system and drug policy at the school seek to serve and protect students rather than simply punish them. 3. That I care about them more than the school. UMBC is an institution that serves us and I am more than happy to use a position within the Student Government to fight for the students. Whether the dispute is over an outrageous and opportunistic eight dollar transcript fee, 'displaced' students being forced off campus or an unnecessarily strict drug policy I'll always be on the student's side.
