CANDIDATE PROFILE
1. I am currently involved in various activities on campus. I am a volunteer for the English Language Center as a conversation partner; I meet with 3 international students every week to help them become better English speakers. I am also a member of Women in Science and Engineering (WISE), Bioethics Students Association (BSA), and the African Student Association (ASA). Prior to this, I was also very involved in my high school. I was a tutor at an after school program (Education and Career Empowerment Center) where I helped fellow students with math and science. I was the secretary of a sisterhood club (Sister-to-sister), a member of the National Honors Society, and a member of the math team. I was also a judge at the Cradlerock elementary school science fair in April 2008. I believe that I am very qualified for this job. I am trustworthy, hardworking, co-operative, helpful, and reliable 2. I believe that hardwork comes before success; any organization wishing to obtain funding must have a genuine need and must show that they will utilize the money given to them in a fruitful manner. I believe that people should be rewarded for their efforts and hardwork in order to encourage them to continue working hard. If I win, I hope to make a direct and positive impact in the development of many student organizations, and encourage students to create new organizations based on their hobbies and passion to create a more involved student body. I also hope to provide adequate funding for needy student clubs and organizations because an availability of money for projects makes students more involved and more dedicated to their organizations. 3. I am a goal oriented person that works diligently to achieve any goal that I pursue. Upon my arrival into the United States, I was determined to make my English as smooth as possible and today very few people can tell that I am a Native Nigerian because my accent is not as prominent as it used to be. I am always willing to learn new things and learn from my mistakes. Although I’m a fluent bi-lingual in English and Yoruba, I am currently learning 3 new languages (Latin, French and Arabic). I know that I am not perfect, so I’m always willing to listen to corrections and learn from my mistakes. I genuinely care about the welfare of others, so I try to help as much as I can (by volunteering, rendering any kind of financial help, tutoring e.t.c) Brief Platform Statement:
