Christine Paul

Candidate for Finance Board Representative

Questions:
1. What experience and qualifications do you have?
2. What is your platform? What do you hope to accomplish if you win?
3. What I really want students to know about me is…. ?

Candidate Responses:
1. As a freshman, I was elected into the House of Organizations. I was also a member of the Student Government Association Finance Board my Sophomore year. As a member of this committee, I participated in discussion and decision-making at the weekly meetings of the SGA Finance Board. This past year, I was also the Vice President of Student Organizations. In all these roles, I took the initiative to keep leaders and members of the student organizations informed, and also work with other SGA members, developing and implementing initiatives to support UMBC’S student organizational involvement. I am currently a Residential Assistant in the Terrace apartments. Along with the other paraprofessionals on campus, I help build community and work to provide a safe and secure campus.

2. My platform is solely to support UMBC’s organizations by connecting with them. I hope to voice out their concerns and problems, and implement initiatives and work with the SGA to work for the diverse population we have on this campus. I understand that not all students know what SGA does for this campus, and I hope to show our various accomplishments. Since I already have so much experience with the student population, I believe that I can be an excellent advocate for both the students and other SGA members. I hope to build a bridge between the SGA and the rest of the student population.

3. I'm just another student excited to help! I am here to represent the students, to guide them, and to serve them. I am open to ideas and opinions and willing to make the changes that are needed.

Brief Platform Statement:

  • Ensure proper representation to the SGA
  • Equal importance to all of UMBC’s student organizations
  • Support and initiate progress of all of UMBC’s organizational events
