Team Points System (TPS)

The UMBC Team Points System is a friendly competition designed to boost that UMBC Retriever spirit that we all have deep inside us but is rarely released. With this friendly competition, hopefully, attendance at home athletic games will rise! We are very proud of our athletic teams, and the best way to show it, is to be out cheering them on to victory!

To participate, each organization must send an email to TeamPointsSystem@umbc.edu by FRIDAY, OCTOBER 8 TH indicating that they will be participating in the Team Points System.

IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE IN THE TEAM POINTS SYSTEM, ORGANIZATIONS MUST HAVE A STUDENT ORGANIZATION 2004-2005 REGISTRATION FORM ON FILE WITH THE STUDENT INVOLVEMENT CENTER (OFFICE OF STUDENT LIFE).

There will be a clearly indicated person (Team Points System staff) at the entrance of the UMBC Soccer Stadium starting fifteen minutes prior to the start of the game and will be there for one half hour after the start of the game. Students, whose organizations are participating must check in with the Team Points System Staff member and indicate which organization they are participating with in order to be counted.

Organizations will receive points based on the percentage of their membership that attended the events. For example, if the Model United Nations has 250 members and 75 of those members attend one of the designated athletic events; the Model United Nations will receive 30 points.

At the end of the year, points will be totaled. The top three organizations will be awarded a monetary prize. First Place : $1,500.00 Second Place: $750.00 Third Place : $375.00
