Legislation passes

SL 19-0708

* Approval of SGA budget
* Include salaries, stipends, student organizations, SEB and Retriever Weekly.
* Letter drive, get 6 new laptops for next year
* Increase in budget for the executive board to $15,000
o This prevents them from going through the finance board and long processes.
o This gives them leeway to spend this $ without consensus, senate and finance board.
o Due to several projects such as Prove it or the bus trips to Binghamton, during the year, the budget might seem necessary but that much $ is not needed, this gives the exec to use it for whatever reason
o This budget was set to prevent encounters where the exec has to use the savings account, GL
o Suggestion: that part of the budget should be put into the senate’s pot so the exec has to go through the senate first
* Prove it fund needed for completing the Green Space project
* Legitimate $ transfer, e.g $ for phone transfer for the use of office supplies.
o This will be at the discretion of the president
* G.L allocation; negative budgeting shouldn’t be a trend: James said (executive board)
o Trying to prevent negative budgeting this year due to no fee increase
o Natural inflation!!!!
o Against state law to put the G.L fund (state’s $) in a savings account rather than a checking account.
* Legislation extended till next week
