Worried about viruses infecting your computer over the Internet while you're
on campus or when you leave for break? Have you been clicking the "Remind me
Later" button since last month when your virus software tells you it's
expired and wants you to buy an upgrade? OIT has made free virus protection
available to all students, whether you live on or off campus! It's always a
good idea to have virus protection on your computer, no matter what kind you
use. This software also works on all Mac and Windows machines. To get this
free software:
1) Go to myUMBC, and be sure to Log In
2) Click the Services Tab
3) On the right side under "Campus Software," click "McAfee /
Virex Virus Protection"
4) If you're running a Windows PC, click the "Off Campus or
Resnet Instructions" link in the first section, or if you're running a Mac,
click the link that applies to you in the second section. Hint: Those of you
with newer Macs will want to use VirusScan 8.5.
