The following are meeting minutes from the Senate meeting. The Senate meets every Monday at 5:30 PM in Room 318 on the third floor of The Commons. These meetings are open to all students to listen to discussion. Rsa meeting:
• Block party this Friday
• Redoing the constitution
Academic jeopardy
• Making corrections to the wording of the academic policies that may be causing confusions.
Legislation of:
General Ledger Allocation for Volleyball Pre-game Tailgate Extravaganza
Jake:
• Tailgate, using this as an inspiration to the students, athletic dept.
• Expenses $5300 , 300 people, allocating 600
• Met up with RSA, RA’s, CD’s, athletics, girl’s volleyball team.
• Advertising: e-mail, flyers, etc.
• Unused money: will stay in the general ledger.
• Jake not in the position to make promises to the students without the financial board and senate board
• How to involve the average student: school spirit, reflect on the event where students dressed up representing their dorm.
• $200 for advertising, 160 for full page sheets to commons and RA’s, 60 to quarter sheets for handout sheets, and the dinning halls additional 40 in case run out of handout sheets
• Use this event as an introduction or opportunity to interest other offices such as Res. Life and such to contribute to possible upcoming events

Legislation of:
Resolution to support the United States House of Representatives Bill 643/ Senate Bill 638- The Collegiate House and Infrastructure Act of 2007
Josh:
• SGA senators vote on this to send a letter to Congressmen to pass bill.
• Making improvements to collegiate housing on campuses. Housing for fraternities on campuses.
• Pres. Habrowski and pres of fraternities have spoken about plans for future fraternities’ housings on campus, long term.
• This can be an obstacle to getting to know people, because this means that students will be separated.
• Opportunity to support housing on campus for different students’ organizations on campus, financially.
• This may bring solutions to the problems of housing on campus, problems students face every fall semester having to sleep in community rooms.
• Michael: opposes this legislation because it may cause segregation among students, and that specific interest groups should write a letter stating their support for the legislation.
• This legislation will provide students with the option to decide whether they want the opportunity to have housing on campus that is financially supported by organizations outside the campus.
• Will not affect the number of philanthropic organizations on campus.
• This gives organizations that want to set up housing on campus the opportunity to ask for funding from outside organizations.
• When funding no taxes involved, passing this legislation will make it easier.
• In the letter that will be written to the Congress must include that the student body will be included when passing the bill.
