Hello student leaders,
Each year, the state of Maryland appoints one student from a University
System of Maryland campus to serve on the Board of Regents. The Regents
govern the University System of Maryland, setting policies and making
decisions that affect every student on issues including tuition and fee
increases, budgets, construction priorities and campus mission statements.
The Student Regent routinely interacts with various leading Marylanders and
policy makers, including the Governor and members of the General Assembly.
A UMBC student served as the Student Regent four years ago, and UMBC's
nominees have reached the final round of the University System of Maryland
selection process every year since then.
Please take a look at the attached information and application, and consider
applying! Please also pass the information along to friends who may be
interested in applying. If you have any questions, let me know.
The application deadline is MONDAY, OCTOBER 29TH AT 5:00 P.M. Submit
completed applications in hard copy to my mailbox in the Office of Student
Life, Commons 336. The UMBC nominee selection committee will contact you
shortly thereafter about whether you will be invited for an on-campus
interview.
Thanks, and good luck!
